Overall I’d fly this route again, particularly now knowing about how things are set up on the Dublin end, if I get the right price and want to go to Ireland or for a good connection elsewhere. Not sure if that’s thanks to AL or SeaTac. First class and air attendant baggage came out quickly but the rest of us had a long wait. On arrival (early) not having to go through immigration was great! Sadly the time that saved was then eaten up waiting for baggage. The pre-landing snack was a glorified hot-pocket, like cardboard with tasteless filling, and not edible. Tasty ice cream was brought out a bit later. The food was fine, a decent beef dish and chocolate pudding. Alcoholic drinks were only available for purchase but they announced this and advice to buy drinks to go with dinner during the one drinks cart pass, which was a helpful heads up. The flight itself was fine - a low-frills airline meant seats were pretty tightly packed but comfortable enough. Luckily we left that late, as facilities on the other side seemed much more bare bones. We knew there was US preclearance and this was quick and easy (but involved yet another bag scan!). Once inside terminal 2 it’s nice and airy with quite a lot of shops and restaurants. The staff were gracious and pleasant but we felt awful for holding up the line for ages while this went on. They had to open the bag and scan every can, then reseal it into a bag. ![]() But having to do a second pass through security was a hassle and the duty free beer carried from Germany made it a big deal. Thankfully we were then able to check in online, as the line was long, and quickly print boarding passes at a kiosk. It took a while to find terminal 2 from T1, even one of the guys we asked was saying people get lost all the time. The spotty airport wifi made this impossible. Not having boarding passes for the second flight we were advised by the very helpful staff to try to get them so we didn’t have to go out and back through security. It was good we had a ton of time between arriving in Dublin from Cologne and the Seattle flight.
